Biography

Marie Mitchell is a Canadian-born mixed media artist based in WA’s Peel Region, working on Bindjareb Boodja. Her full-time practice spans fibre, textiles, printmaking, and projections, integrating education and environmental advocacy. Inspired by Australia’s biodiversity, her award-winning work includes “Starting the Cycle” and the “Wetland Stories” exhibition. She co-founded Peel ArtsConnect and coordinated SAQA’s Oceania tour. Her international exhibits—such as “Forced to Flee” and “Disconnected Habitat”—bridge art, science, and social justice. Held in collections across five countries, her tactile, sensory-rich works reflect a deep commitment to sustainability, cultural knowledge, and inclusive outreach.
